South Asian Accountability Initiative
Who We Are
The South Asian Accountability Initiative (SAAI) is a medical student-led initiative working to improve health equity for South Asian communities in the Greater Toronto Area - and beyond.

At our core, we believe that everyone deserves to understand their health—in their own language, in their own context.

Our Mission

SAAI aims to advance health equity for South Asian communities by developing culturally informed, language accessible and clinically accurate health communication tools.

We aim to:
-
Empower patients with accessible health information
-
Support providers in delivering equitable, informed care
-
Promote health literacy through culturally rooted resources
So healthcare can be truly informed and equitable for everyone.
We create clinically accurate, culturally relevant, multilingual health information handouts - designed to be shared during clinic visits and taken home for continued care.
Creating culturally-sensitive, language-accessible patient information handouts
Translating these resources into multiple South Asian languages
Integrating them into EMRs so physicians can easily access and print them for the patients during clinic visits
Ensuring patients have take-home, understandable resources to support their health journey and awareness
